Didn’t get a chance to take an after picture of this hair transformation I poured my heart and soul into. But here is a picture of us getting post appointment food because I worked 9:30-5:30pm only having coffee and a protein bar at 9 am and I took my vitamins and I was having a tummy ache and I was feeling so lightheaded 😵‍💫I don’t do this often and I 100% do not want to glorify this kind of work habit, but sometimes I just have those days when I take care of my clients first and put myself last. When I least expect it, they take care of me in return and take me out to eat 🥰 I love having a close bond with so many of these strong, amazing women that are so supportive, inspiring and kind hearted. I kind of have the most amazing job ever even on my hard days 🤍🩶🖤

Do you like your haircut? 💇‍♀️ the biggest request/complaint I receive from new guests is they can’t find a colorist that can cut their hair properly or even cut it evenly for a simple trim…so they will leave their colorist if they are unhappy with their haircut and find someone that can do both😱

Being able to watch my lil assistants blossom into their careers and take on new roles in different salons is such a reward 🥲 Hands down, the most underrated part of owning a salon business is being a mentor to the next generation of stylists. I don’t think my knees or wrists will make it full time behind the chair another 30 years, and it’s important we pave the way when we can. It is good to train and prepare with a student that is eager to take in so much knowledge, do it “my way” first, then move on to learn from others as their career develops. Eventually they will do it “their way” learning good/bad habits from all of their mentors from different salon experiences.

Let me just start by saying I went to this class 3 years ago. I volunteered for a haircut and got my hair hacked by this well known hair artist- it took almost a full year to recover it to a normal length where it would even grow. Who am I to judge a “famous hairstylist” teaching cutting classes with a famous scissor company….right…because everyone listens to women who speak out/stand up against a man. Especially when they are always putting on a show.

@maggiemh —you embody power, strength, and class, but most importantly, grace. You conducted this entire class, you helped some of us open up, be vulnerable, and inspire so many people daily. I’ve been following you for years, and when I finally was able to attend your education, I was beyond stoked. Till this day, I use what I learned there for my business…and I’m somehow still learning from you as you go through this really hard, public situation about your past personal life and sharing your story. You are continuing to show grace, class and strength. I am sure you spent many days crying alone, falling to your knees because only God could take the pain you were experiencing away. I know, because I went thru something very similar as some of us have to do, in silence.

Because we are both artists with a trained eye, I always have so much fun planning and working with her on color, discussing different tones, how to achieve the goal she wants and she’s always open to change. This look was achieved with 1 row of 4 wefts, about 10 Ktips around the face. I custom colored half of the extensions used.
